DE: Gemeinsam mit den Regisseurinnen Miriam Dehne und Irene von Alberti konzipierte und drehte Esther Gronenborn den Film Stadt als Beute. Die Geschichte bezieht sich auf ein gleichnamiges Theaterstück des Regisseurs Ren’e Pollesch und kreisen um Theaterproben, in denen der Regisseur sich selber spielt. Dramaturgisch clever verzahnt, spielen alle drei Episoden am selben Probentag und beleuchten die Arbeit von Schauspielern am Text, sowie die Beziehung zwischen der Stadt und den Menschen, die in ihr leben. Der unterhaltsame Film fängt ein Stück Zeitgeschehen ein und porträtiert die Stadt Berlin in ihrer vielleicht spannendsten Phase der Nuller Jahre.

EN: Together with directors Miriam Dehne and Irene von Alberti, Esther Gronenborn wrote and shot the film Berlin Stories. The story is based on a play of the same name, by director Ren’e Pollesch and revolves around theatre rehearsals in which the director plays himself. Cleverly interlocked, all three episodes take place on the same rehearsal day and shed light on the actors‘ work on the text, as well as the relationship between the city and the people who live in it. This entertaining film captures a piece of contemporary history and portrays the city of Berlin in what was perhaps its most exciting phase in the noughties.
